Frequently asked questions
- How is GPA calculated?
- Each grade converts to grade points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, …). Multiply each course's points by its credit hours to get quality points, add them up, and divide by total credits. The worked table below the calculator shows every row of that arithmetic.
- Why do different institutions report different GPAs from the same transcript?
- Because the conversion rules differ. LSAC counts A+ as 4.33 and includes every repeated attempt; AMCAS caps A+ at 4.0 and splits science (BCPM) from other coursework. The dedicated calculators on this site implement each rulebook exactly.
- Does this calculator store my grades?
- Everything runs in your browser — no grades are sent to any server.
